Sing Praises unto the Lord!!!

Was really encouraged this mornin by the following devotional, so i thought i'd share it...

“Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” - Ephesians 5:19
If we are Spirit-filled, we will have songs of praise in our hearts and on our lips.Once a Christian knows about being Spirit-filled and walking by the Spirit, it is still fair for him or her to ask, “But how can I know if the Holy Spirit is really at work in my life?” Ephesians 5:19 answers this question by declaring one of the unmistakable evidences of the Spirit’s full operation in our lives—we will have a song in our hearts.
The Bible does not give us much detail about the practical use of music and song, but there are enough references so that its significance to God and His people is clear. The Israelites praised God after He rescued them from the Egyptians (Ex. 15). The Psalms are filled with songs and praise, epitomized by the final verse, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” (150:6).
In the New Testament, Jesus and the disciples closed the Last Supper by singing a hymn (Matt. 26:30). Paul and Silas sang while they were imprisoned at Philippi (Acts 16:25). During his vision in Revelation 5, the apostle John sees this: “When He [Christ, the Lamb] had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song” (vv. 8-9).
That “new song” John was about to hear sung before God’s throne was not just new chronologically—it was new qualitatively. Here as elsewhere in the New Testament, “new” is used in relation to God’s salvation, which means it makes perfect sense for us to sing a new song—one that is far better than the world’s songs—if we are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. Words of genuine praise should well up in our hearts often and at the appropriate times break forth from our lips as we reflect the joy of the Spirit-filled life.
Suggestions for Prayer: Thank God specifically for some of your favorite hymns.
For Further Study: Read Revelation 5:1-14 for the complete context of John’s new song. What is the song’s theme? How many eventually join in the praises?

Heart of Worship

The song " Heart of Worship"has been one of my favourite worship songs. With a lot of things goin on in my life right now, the song aptly describes my state of mind . I am so thankful unto the Lord that I worship a God who is Holy, Mighty and a compassionate friend.

Heart of Worship
-Matt Redman
When the music fades and all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You All about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the things I've made it
When it's all about You All about You, Jesus
King of endless worth,
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor,
All I have is Yours Every single breath

Where are the smart guys???

This is one question I’ve been asking my sister for quite some time now… Well if you are living in India then this definitely is a very important question to most of the girls here… As the tradition goes if ur around my age (ie 24) or anywhere close to that age then its the time for shaadi…(wat did u think I’d say, it’s the time to disco??? Hee hee) and it really bothers me coz m not against marriage or anything… but if m gonna be spending the rest of my life with a guy, he better be a sensible one… my parents have come a long way and have stopped bugging my sis and I to get married… and they are pretty cool about us getting married to guys of are own choice… now many of you must be thinking, wow that’s so cool… “guys of ur own choice, no pressure to get married soon”… but it ain't all that simple… Let me explain why:

For me there are 3 categories in guys: 1) The good lookin ones 2) the Intelligent ones 3) The Intelligent and good lookin ones (the third category being very rare)… as a teenager I was always attracted to category No 1. Then realized they are the dumb kind and can talk of only how big their biceps are (and thus reveal how small their IQ is)… and they are the worst in the category. You cannot strike a conversation with them.
Category no 2. are the ones who believe that as long as you are extremely intelligent that’s more than enough. You don’t need to take care of your looks, or social skills( basically anything apart from books or work) these are the prideful ones who think no end of themselves, and consider everyone else inferior…

Well now we come to my favourite and the rare kind, category no 3. These are the ones who are totally chilled out about everythin… they are intelligent, yet they don’t boast about it… have generally good social skills… they are extremely comfortable with the opposite sex.. and they look decent enough to the eyes… m glad that I have a few friends of the category no3… and it’s a blessing to be around them…I have always had great conversations over coffee, good time spend together in groups and great fun in general. They are the ones who are not insecure of their friendships… and that's good… it’s a tragedy though that the society is filled with more of the category no 1& 2… the 3rd kind are usually your good friends.. or they are already taken

Movie Time!!!

Its been long since I’ve written a movie review… Two weeks back i saw Rock On… after a really long time got to watch a good hindi movie which has depth and standard… I am not the person who will spend my money on hindi movies.. but when I saw the trailer itself I knew it would be worth it…
This is Farhan Akhtar’s first movie as an actor and I must say he has a done a fairly good job…,
As the name suggests the movie revolves around rock music and the life of the people in a rock band. Here the characters are played by Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli. The movie goes back n forth into flashback and thus helps us understand why each person is in the place/job that they are right now… the friendship that is portrayed is very real and can be related to are day today lives… whether it be struggling to make ends meet, or ego clashes among friends and many other things…people who love music or who are in a band will be able to relate quite well with the movie.
The basic story of the movie is where 4 friends who love music are in a rock band. They win a competition where they get to release their own music album. A big argument takes place as there are some ego clashes and the band breaks up. They meet after 10 years and decide to put their past behind and fulfill their dream of being a rock band… The characters are portrayed really well thru Arjun Rampal and Farhan Akhtar. Purab definitely bought life into the movie and Luke had his own way of wooing the audience…
Something wat I enjoyed a lot in the movie was the live music.. no hero heroine singing in the gardens and extras dancing at the side… if there was music it was becoz there were instruments being played and there were people singing on stage… It was good to hear an Indian actor sing (Farhan Akhtar himself sang his own songs)… also the other actors took effort in learning the instruments, and how to handle them at least.. So that made them look professional.. Otherwise I remember the good old days where the hero is playin an electric guitar without the cord being attached to the plug, or even better where he will be moving his butter fingers all over the finger board, when the music being played is totally different…

M glad Hindi Movies are bringing up their standards, and making movies that have class and will stir the mind of the people… hopin there will bemore movies of such kind.. My rating for the moving is 4 stars(out of 5).

Life is a Rollercoaster!!!

Have you ever had those days that by the time you even realize the day is done, or even the week infact…well I am havin those days… work has been a lil hectic lately and as I have shifted to a new campus m just taken some time to adjust. The building is so huge that it takes me time to just go find my colleagues… As I go to the gym after my work I don’t reach home till about 9:30pm. Even before I know it the day is done… m waitin for the diwali holidays.. Fortunately as m working in an educational institute we get a week off… I really do hope I get to go out of station for a few days…

Its like I’ve been wanting to catch up wid so many of my friends but either its rainin too hard, or m fallin ill..its like everythin is happenin all at once…I remember there was a phase in my life where everythin was like slow… I mean slow slow… at that point always wondered if I wud ever have a busy life… n now, I wish I cud get some of those days back…but m glad that there r these different phases in each one’s life otherwise it wud be really boring…I mean imagine doin the same thing over n over again..well I know I sound all confused in this post but that is the state of my mind right now(n m just recoverin from illness, so I guess m slow..hee hee)… till the next post see ya…(it probably will be a movie review)
